YUJI ASHIKAWA
Born in 1962 Tokyo
Yuji Ashikawa’s artistic processes involve simplicity. Taking inspiration from the old masters, such as Picasso and Matisse, Yuji creates works that speak volumes of the human condition and capacity for emotional depth that transcends the complications of language.

Ashikawa Yuji works with oil on paper and canvas. The paintings employ the use of deep, rich colors to bring forth beautiful, flowing forms.
As an artist, Ashikawa has found encouragement in the sadness and passion from Picasso, as well as joy from Matisse and Degas. In these artists, Ashikawa found emotional support, and hopes he is able to provide the same feelings for people who view his artwork. With this in mind, he creates art that expresses human emotions so that people may better understand each other.
