Working with the techniques of European icon and tempera painting, Chihiro Taki transforms personal experience into intimate psychological narratives that unfold like suspended cinematic scenes. Rather than illustrating a specific story, her paintings capture fleeting moments in which memory, dreams, and inner experience converge with archetypal imagery, inviting viewers to construct their own narratives.

Executed in gesso and oil on a wooden panel, A Small Savior exemplifies Taki's distinctive approach to figurative painting. Carefully composed and rich in psychological ambiguity, the work exists between reality and imagination, offering a moment that feels simultaneously familiar and elusive. Like a still frame from an unseen film, it invites viewers to become witnesses to a story that remains open to multiple interpretations.
