Gallery G-77 is pleased to present Toyohiko Nishijima at Affordable Art Fair Battersea Autumn 2026 in London.
Rooted in Nihonga, Nishijima brings the decorative beauty of Kyo-Rimpa into the present through an unexpected contemporary motif: semiconductors.
Traditional Japanese motifs and gold grounds meet the precise lines and structures of semiconductor circuitry. Nishijima sees a connection between the refined sense of design found in Kyo-Rimpa and the systematic beauty of the semiconductor, an essential element of contemporary society.
Through this distinctive combination of tradition and innovation, Nishijima explores how the aesthetics of Japanese painting can evolve while remaining connected to its cultural origins.
At Battersea, Gallery G-77 will present works from his ongoing Kyo-Rimpa series.
