Gallery G-77 is pleased to introduce Yuriko Yamamoto’s Hikari-tsugi (Light Mending) to London for the first time at Affordable Art Fair Battersea Autumn 2026.

Inspired by the Japanese tradition of kintsugi, Yamamoto reimagines the idea of repair through light. Rather than restoring what has been lost, she allows the missing parts to remain and uses light to give them another form.

Fragments of the body and natural forms appear incomplete, with light emerging where matter has disappeared. A missing part is not concealed or replaced. Instead, its absence becomes one of the most visible elements of the work.

In Hikari-tsugi, Yamamoto explores the possibility that something can continue to exist even after its physical form has been altered or lost. Light reconnects what cannot be restored, creating a new relationship between what remains and what is no longer there.

First presented at Gallery G-77 in Kyoto, Hikari-tsugi will be shown in London for the first time at Affordable Art Fair Battersea Autumn 2026.

Gallery G-77 will present a selection of works from the series at Stand K6.
